Learning occurs, and fitness is built, through repetition and recovery. This principle applies to brain learning (it’s called spaced learning). It also applies to creating fitness, where most experts recommend taking 2-3 days each week to rest and recover from exercise.
Living organisms are experts at adapting to things. By doing something intermittently, instead of every day, it counters the tendency for adaptation, which is a useful way to approach things you plan on doing or taking for long periods of time.
While it’s perfectly okay to take Qualia Vision every day, our general preference is that, if something doesn’t need to be taken daily, it’s a good idea to build in breaks.
Qualia Vision also contains several ingredients that supply fat-soluble nutrients, including Lutemax® 2020 (supplying lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin) and AstaPure® (supplying astaxanthin): these ingredients gradually build up in the eye, so don’t need to be taken every day.
Yes! In fact, we consider it to be a great complement to products like Qualia Mind, Qualia Nootropic Energy Shot, Qualia Life, and Qualia Night.
When we designed Qualia Vision, we did so assuming people would take it with our other Qualia products. Because of this, we made sure that the products, when combined, wouldn’t be giving too much of any individual nutrient.
We are not a “more is better” company when it comes to the formulation of our products. It was very important for us to make sure the amount of every ingredient would stay within a safe range when this product was taken with any Qualia product.
Qualia Vision works by supplying vision antioxidants, blue-light protection pigments, superfruit polyphenols, and vision nutrients that support the healthy function of the eyes and brain (the brain is part of the visual system).
These ingredients support the eye’s innate mechanisms that convert light into energy while protecting themselves against this light. Extra photostress support can be especially important when we are looking at screens for sustained periods of time because screens shine a light (especially blue light) directly into the eyes, which places demands on the nutritional resources eyes use to capture and protect themselves from light.
Qualia Vision also supports macular health, eye muscle endurance and recovery, eye surface comfort and health, and nerve and brain functions involved in processing visual information.
We consider Qualia Vision appropriate for children over 10 years old (and hence all teenagers).
If Qualia Vision is used in children and teenagers, the recommended dose is one capsule per day.
Children and teenagers have many of the same screen time behaviors as adults, so their eyes are also under a lot of eye stress from these behaviors. Because of this, we intentionally formulated Qualia Vision to contain eye-health ingredients, superfruit extracts, and spices that have been used in younger eyes.
In our testing, we asked participants to take Qualia Vision in the morning, since this tends to be a good time of day when it comes to remembering to take a newly started supplement.
But we don’t have any reason to believe that time of day will make a difference when taking Qualia Vision.
Yes. We consider Qualia Vision to be compatible with intermittent fasting.
Digital eye strain, sometimes called computer vision syndrome, is a collection of eye stress symptoms that occur because of looking at screens. They include experiences like eye fatigue, tired eyes, itchy eyes, eyes feeling dry or irritated, excessive tearing, blurry vision, difficulty in focusing, and sensitivity to light or glare.
These symptoms are caused because of a combination of screen time factors, including blue light, fatigue of overworked eye muscles, and photostress to the eye’s surface.
Qualia Vision was formulated with the relief of digital eye strain symptoms in mind.
No. The clinically studied ingredients in Qualia Vision have been used at the same dose for people of multiple ages, body weights, genders, etc.
So we would not consider body weight to be an important determining factor for dose.
Our recommended dose is 1-2 capsules daily, it’s fine to choose to take the 1 capsule dose for any reason, including if a person is smaller.
Qualia Vision has an expiration date on the bottle, usually on the bottom of the bottle under the lot number. Look for EXP and a number, such as EXP09/2022, which means the expiration date for the bottle would be the end of September in 2022.
There are no supplements that need to be avoided, but we don’t recommend taking supplements containing beta carotene or mixed carotenes at the same meal as Qualia Vision.
Carotenoids compete for absorption.
Qualia Vision uses the award-winning ingredient Lutemax® 2020, which contains the three macular carotenoids—lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin. Beta carotene or mixed carotenes, because they compete for absorption, can hamper the bioavailability of the eye-healthy macular carotenoids in Qualia Vision.
We recommend Qualia Vision be taken with a meal, because it contains several different fat-soluble nutrients: fat-soluble compounds are more bioavailable when consumed with dietary fat. Lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin—all three are found in Lutemax® 2020—and AstaPure® astaxanthin is fat-soluble carotenoids.
Saffron stigma extract and Goji fruit juice extract also contain fat-soluble carotenoids. Ginger contains fat-soluble compounds that give its characteristic pungent flavor. These ingredients would be expected to be more bioavailable if consumed with or near the end of a meal or snack that contains some fat.
If it is much more convenient for you to take Qualia Vision without food, we don’t think the bioavailability advantage should outweigh the convenience and would encourage you to take it in the way that would be easiest for you to fit into your schedule.
